Developers
To create a sustainable, replicable model for integrating STEM learning activities using the design process, the Inquiry by Engineering Design (IBED) model was developed by Dr. Mary Kasarda and Dr. Brenda Brand during the 2011-2012 academic year with the aid of graduate students Wei Sun and Zach VanDerwerker.
In collaboration with Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) administrators, Dr. Patricia Gaudreau and Rick Weaver, 14 middle school math, science, and career & technical (CTE) teachers were invited to participate in a teacher professional development workshop on the Virginia Tech campus aimed at integrating the engineering design process into middle school classroom activities.
